Pilgern auf Englisch - The Canterbury Tales
The first book ever printed in English - Geoffrey Chaucer and his Pilgrims' Tales
"As you know, it?s a long way to Canterbury. You need to stay happy on the journey. I?ve got an idea. You must all tell a story on the way. We?ll give a free dinner to the person who tells the best story. Now put your hands up if you agree." The pilgrims all held up their hands and cried out, "Yes"! -
This is the beginning of the famous Canterbury Tales, a collection of 24 stories written by Geoffrey Chaucer between 1387 and 1400. After an introduction to Geoffrey Chaucer, often referred to as the Father of English Literature, we will listen to the prologue and 2 of the most famous stories in a modern English version.
There will be plenty of time to ask questions and share your thoughts.
